Abstract

This study examined the relationship between leg muscle strength and movement agility among Sepak Takraw athletes at Universiti Putra Malaysia. The research aimed to identify the level of leg muscle strength, the level of movement agility, and the correlation between these two variables. Twenty-one UPM Sepak Takraw athletes participated as respondents. The study employed a quantitative correlational design, utilizing the Squat 1RM test to measure leg muscle strength and the SEMO test to assess agility. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and Pearson’s correlation analysis. The findings revealed a moderate positive correlation (r = 0.552, p = 0.014), indicating that while there is a relationship between leg muscle strength and movement agility, the association is not directly influential. The study highlights the multifactorial nature of agility and suggests that factors beyond leg strength contribute to athletic performance in Sepak Takraw. These findings are valuable for coaches and athletes seeking to optimize training strategies for performance enhancement.
